Hello hello,

It’s been a while since any KTB updates (moving house, earning money and things like that got in the way) but here’s a few bits of news for you…

Reviews:

We’ve had a few lovely reviews of ‘Indelible Ink’ in the online press:

Album of the Month (August 2009) from the Northern Sky music blog by Allan Wilkinson (this review also appeared on Fatea)

8 out of 10 on Americana UK…. ‘A fine record’

Net Rhythms: ‘A major talent deserving of much wider recognition.’

and just the other day a nice little review on Spiral Earth

… splendid!

If any body would like to review the album (you can write whatever you like as long as there’s no slander!), feel free to drop us a line… mail@ktb.org.uk

Also, got a few gigs coming up over October: Sunday the 4th at The Station in Codsall, Walsall and Friday 23rd in Priddy in Somerset with my good friends Ember. See gigs page for details!

over and out!

Since the release of ‘Indelible Ink‘, we’ve been getting a few plays on various Radio Shows around the place including Archie Fisher’s Travelling Folk on BBC Scotland, The Other Woman show with Ruth Barnes on Resonance FM in London and also on Doug Lang’s Better Days show broadcast from Vancouver, Canada.

If you think that there are other DJs that might like to play a KTB tune or two, do let them know!

Another rather lovely thing is that the awesome Uiscedwr (whom KTB met back in 2002 at the BBC Young Folk Awards) have recorded a cover of Katy’s song ‘End Of The Day’ from KTB debut album ‘All Calm In Dreamland’. They do a lovely version of the song and it features on Uiscedwr’s brand new album ‘Fish Cat Door’ which you can find out more about here.

Anyway, that’s all folks!

Tararabit.

ktbx

PS: Just found out that the KTB song ‘i like you like me’ got played on that there BBC’s Tom Robinson…

Hi y’all, I thought I’d put up a little video of yours truly playing ‘I like you like me’ (from the new album) on the communal TV channel that is YouTube just to see what happened…

‘I like you like me’ would be the single from the album (if singles still existed) so this seemed like a good way of attempting to spread the song around the world without a budget. Let me know what you think, if you have a moment. I forgot to take my glasses off before pressing record and you can hear an interrupting phone at the end, but I hope you’ll forgive me … ktb.x

Good afternoon to you fine folk,

It may have taken nigh on nine months to get it all sorted, but it seems that finally the new KTB album, Indelible Ink, is ready for human consumption. The album launch show is a week on sunday (19th April) at the delovely Kitchen Garden Cafe. See the gigs page for more details.

We’re very pleased with how Indelible Ink is sounding and we’ve been lucky enough to work with illustrator/designer Claire Bennett (of Truck) who has created the bowl for our sonic fruit… artwork coming soon to the music page.

Physical copies will be available to purchase at the album launch gig and at subsequent KTB shows and, shortly, via the website and in selected retailers (including the excellent independent Polar Bear Records on York Road in Kings Heath). The album will be distributed digitally in the next momth or so too…

Maybe see you on the 19th,

xx

Does anybody have any ideas of UK venues we could put on a KTB gig during April, May and June 2009 as part of an album launch tour?

This doesn’t need to be a very big venue – maybe a cafe, arts centre studio space, somebody’s house, back room of a pub, village hall, church – anywhere suitable for two guitars and a voice, with or without a sound system.

If you do have an idea, leave a comment or send an email (mail@ktb.org.uk).

Hope you’re all fine ‘n’ dandy.

Ta very much,
